Untl counts down.

A small timer for the macOS menu bar. No dials, no forms, no doing the math: say how long, or until what time, and Untl works out the rest.

Everything a timer should do

Native SwiftUI with the Liquid Glass look. Fast to start, hard to miss when it ends.

Plain-language input

Intervals, clock times, stopwatches, labels, repeats, chained scenarios and loops. Just write it the way you would say it.

Quick entry

A global hotkey opens a Spotlight-style field from any app, so a new timer is one keystroke away.

Screen-edge progress bar

A thin bar fills along any edge of every display. Click-through, above full-screen apps, with marks at signals.

Alerts you can't miss

A fullscreen alert on every display with Snooze and Done. Every step of a sequence gets its own, shown as "1 / 4".

Shortcuts

Save an input once, give it a color and start it with one click, by name, or with its own global hotkey.

Pomodoro & loops

Work and break phases that repeat on their own. Pomodoro comes as a ready-made shortcut, and you can customize it.

And more

Survives restarts

Timers keep their absolute start time, so time spent with the app closed or the Mac asleep still counts.

Colors & sounds

Pick a different color for each timer. Choose sounds for start, signals and end.

Calendar

One click starts a timer until your next event, named and colored like it. All-day events are skipped.

Menu bar at a glance

Show the time left or the end time (“until 9:45”), with an optional bar or circle in the timer's color.

Signed & self-updating

Notarized by Apple. Updates download in the background, are signature-checked, and install only when you click.

What you can type

Anything after the time becomes the label. Combine freely.

TypeMeaning
45m 1h15m 2.5hInterval. A bare number means minutes.
20:00 06:30 PMThe next occurrence of that clock time. With a 12-hour time format (Settings → General), 8:00 without AM/PM means the next 8 o’clock, morning or evening.
stopwatchCounts up with no end.
1h30m Deep WorkEverything after the value is the label.
1h/3 1h/20mIntermediate signals: in 3 equal parts, or every 20 minutes.
15m x4Repeat four times, each with its own alert.
50m Work + 10m BreakA scenario: the next timer starts when the previous one ends.
… loopRun the scenario forever.
#blue #red …Color: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, purple, magenta, white.
1h #countupCounts up to one hour, then rings. A stopwatch has no end.
#show-secondsMenu bar counts in seconds for this timer.
#gong #start:shotSound for the end, or for a specific moment.

Automate it with the URL scheme: untl://add/15m Break starts a timer, untl://quick opens quick entry.

Private by design

Your timers, shortcuts and settings never leave your Mac. No accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting. The only thing Untl contacts is GitHub, to look for updates (you can switch that off). The only data ever sent is a feedback message you choose to submit.
